The Roman Republic period was an era of the the Classical Roman Civilisation starting from the overthrow of the Roman Kingdom in 509 BC. It was during this time that the Romans began a Controlled Expansion from the city's immediate surrounding to become a prdominate power in the Mediterranean world.

Durring this time period the Romans began began to become more of a trading power then an aggricultural one. They were heavily influenced by Greek culture and it shows in their earlier coins.
