Having lived a storied life as a cardinal, Jesuit, abbot and emperor, John II Casimir Vasa only reigned for a short time. During his time as emperor of Poland, John inherited the state of affairs that encompased the Russo-Polish war and shortly to follow, a war with Sweden, often called The Deluge.
