The Elgin Shipmate, featuring one of the earlier Swiss import movements, featuring a standard autowind feature where the weight rotates a full 360 degrees rather than the limited rotation of the bumper automatics. This is on the smaller end of wrist watches, coming in at 29mm in diameter, this handsome little watch is ready to wear. The watch runs great, winding and ticking like a champ!
The crystal has taken a substantial hit, leaving a nice scratch across the face, either a polish or a replacement crystal would set the watch right. The dial has seen the years and has the privilege of the patina that comes with time. With that nice dark black dial, and the patina being lighter, it looks like the sky at night, constellations appear to grace the dial as the hands make their trek around the dial, just as the stars march across the sky. The case shows some age too, but nothing more than years of wearing it, and a quick polish would rectify any uneven finish on the case.
