The reverse of the coin depicts the goddess Venus, arriving upon the shore after her birth, fully grown. The piece depicts the wind god Zephyr, helping speed Venus to shore, while she stands next to a giant scallop shell. There is less of a sense of the mythical about this painting than is usually used to depict gods and goddesses, and one feels like she might be a real, human woman born of the sea. The obverse of the coin features a close-up of Venus, along with the Coat of Arms of Cameroon and the inscriptions: "SANDRO BOTTICELLI'S THE BIRTH OF VENUS" – the name of the painter and the painting, "2024" – the year of issue and "1000 FRANCS CFA" – the face value.
