In an effort to educate the American public to the importance of radionuclides and the major breakthrough that they were to both the scientific and medical communities these machines were available to the public to help illustrate the radiation process. The dimes were presented by the visitor, irradiated, tested with a geiger counter and encapsulated by the machine in which it was deposited. Several varieties exist.
