Since antiquity, the unicorn has been mentioned and written about by various authors. Described, in European culture, as a white horse or goat-like creature often featuring a goats beard. It was believed that the creature was a symbol of purity and grace which could only be captured by a virgin. The horn was also said to have magical capabilities, like making poisoned water potable and its ability to heal.
In the modern day, it's become well known as a symbol for fantasy and rarity.
